The information we use
Paint & Sip is the painting studio at paintandsip.app. This policy explains how information is handled when you paint alone, join a room, buy artwork or use your sketchbook.
- Your guest identity: a random browser identifier connects your rooms and purchases without an account. It is not a public profile.
- Room activity: your chosen display name, room settings, membership, chat, reactions, votes and saved painting data support the shared session.
- Purchases: your checkout email, payment reference, amount, status and purchased items let us verify payment and restore access. A gift also records the recipient email you provide.
- Technical activity: connection information, request logs and guest activity help run the service, diagnose failures and prevent abuse.
Why we use it
We use information to deliver the painting session you request, save progress, verify purchases, send requested recovery emails and provide support. Processing needed to provide those services supports our agreement with you.
Security, moderation and operational monitoring support our legitimate interests in keeping the studio reliable and protecting its users. Payment and related records may also be needed to meet legal obligations. Where a feature requires consent, you can choose whether to use it and withdraw that consent where applicable.
The activity counter estimates active browser guests from the last 90 seconds. Another visit is counted after 30 minutes of inactivity. It does not identify individual people to other visitors. The operator can view dated reports of anonymous visitor identities, page paths, referral domains and broad device categories. Room codes and URL query strings are excluded. Different browsers count separately.
Photos and sharing
Photo conversion happens on your device. Paint & Sip does not upload or retain the original image. The converter reads the photo you select and produces a paintable outline locally. Creating a new outline requires an online check of your paid feature access.
Personal outlines and offline paintings remain in this browser unless you choose to use an outline in an online room or share an exported image. A custom outline used in a room is sent to the server and can be seen by the room鈥檚 members.
Room members can see the information you share in that room. Live painting previews follow the host鈥檚 settings; work is shown to the room at reveal. Anyone receiving your room link may be able to join while it is open. Members can save or share visible artwork, so invite people you trust.
Optional voice chat
Voice is optional. Joining asks for your browser鈥檚 microphone permission and starts with your microphone muted. You control when to unmute and can leave voice at any time. Leaving the room, a lost connection or putting the studio in the background stops microphone use; returning does not automatically rejoin voice.
Audio travels live between participants using WebRTC. Paint & Sip does not record or store the audio. Direct connections can reveal network information, including IP addresses, to other people in voice. Configured connection and relay services also process network information and may carry encrypted audio to connect participants.
Only join voice with people you trust. Other participants may use their own recording tools; the studio cannot prevent that. You can revoke microphone permission in your browser settings and continue painting or using text chat.
Cookies and device storage
The studio uses browser storage to remember your session and keep painting available offline. These are the main places your information lives.
- Guest cookie 路 one year
- An HttpOnly cookie keeps your guest identity connected. People using the same browser profile share that identity. Clearing the cookie creates a new guest; paid access can be restored with your checkout email.
- Sketchbook 路 on this device
- Offline canvases, imported outlines and painting drafts are stored in IndexedDB. They are not a cloud backup and may be removed by the browser, private browsing, uninstalling the app or clearing site data.
- Preferences 路 on this device
- Local storage remembers choices such as music, volume and drinks. The app cache holds the offline page, artwork, fonts and other files needed to open the sketchbook without a connection.
- Online room backups 路 up to seven days
- Device copies help recover unsynced work. Expired copies are pruned during subsequent saves. Online room pages, private API responses and payment responses are not stored in the offline app cache.
You can manage or remove site storage in your browser settings. Download paintings you want to keep before clearing it. Clearing browser data does not delete server records or cancel a purchase. Visit your sketchbook to manage local canvases.
How long we keep it
Online rooms and associated session paintings are scheduled for deletion seven days after the room was created. Cleanup runs while the service is online and catches up after a restart.
Purchase and access records are retained to recover paid features and resolve payment issues; they do not currently have an automatic deletion date. Guest and activity records can remain while needed for related records, security and service activity. Recovery links expire after 15 minutes and can be used only once.
Administrators can moderate rooms and review purchases. Administrative changes are recorded in an audit log. Operational backups may contain older records until replaced under the deployment鈥檚 backup schedule. Browser storage and server backups have different lifetimes.
Service providers
Paystack processes checkout and receives the email and payment information needed to complete it. Paint & Sip stores payment references and access records, not your full card details. Paystack handles payment information under its own privacy policy.
The hosting and database services process information needed to run the studio. The configured email service receives your email address and recovery message when you request a link. Depending on the provider and deployment, processing may take place outside your country. Applicable data protection requirements still apply.
We may disclose relevant records where required by law, to address fraud or to protect the service and its users. Sharing artwork yourself, including through your device鈥檚 share sheet, also places it under the recipient service鈥檚 rules.
Your rights and choices
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy of your personal information, object to processing or ask for it to be restricted. These rights may have exceptions, including records needed for legal obligations and payment disputes. Identity verification may be needed to protect your information.
You can also raise a privacy concern with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or your local supervisory authority. Exporting a painting from the studio gives you an image copy; it is separate from a request for your personal information.
Use your own browser profile for private rooms and purchases. Keep recovery links private. Choose photos you have permission to use, including permission from people shown where required.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as the studio changes. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes that require notice or consent will be handled as required by applicable law. Our Terms of Service explain the rules for using the studio.
